Steve brings multi-faceted expertise in the financial and hospitality industries to the Oldwick Office. Before joining Turpin, he was a director of international sales and trading for Guggenheim Securities on Wall Street, and he also worked in the sales division of an online restaurant equipment distributor in San Francisco. These roles combine to give Steve an ideal foundation in residential sales since many of the same skills he developed--including client contact, problem-solving and open communication—also serve him well in the real estate business.
Knowledgeable in the financial aspects of home ownership, Steve can offer advice about mortgages and budgeting from his many years handling institutional investors. His former position at BigTray.com in San Francisco allowed him to work closely with restaurant owners, hotels and chefs on the design of their kitchen layout as well as necessary equipment. This experience is helpful to his current clients who rely on his insights concerning their own homes.
Working and living in the local community is an aspect of his sales associate job Steve truly appreciates, since he likes the idea of helping clients find the perfect home at the perfect price. One of his greatest assets is his deep knowledge of the market area, from Summit and Chatham to Tewksbury and Clinton. “I know the roads, I know the neighborhoods, I know the schools and I believe this benefits my clients,” Steve notes.
Born and raised in Gladstone, Steve graduated from the Delbarton School in Morristown and Loyola University in Maryland. Today he lives in Long Valley with his wife, Emily, their three children and a black lab named Watson. In his free time, Steve enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, golf and snowboarding. He stays connected with his high school classmates as a member of the Delbarton Alumni Association.
Friends and co-workers often describe Steve as straightforward, dedicated and loyal. He is known for his calm demeanor and a work style that is both dependable and reliable. His decision to join Turpin was a personal one: Steve’s mother, Barbara Barisonek, manages the Chatham Office. Steve has known some of the company’s agents for over two decades and has developed an excellent camaraderie through the years. As someone who grew up discussing real estate topics at the dinner table (his father is a retired real estate attorney) he adds, “I feel in a way that I am coming to the family business.”
Steve welcomes your future call, visit or email to the Oldwick Office. He looks forward to assisting you with all your real estate concerns.
